According to Reuters, Jake Sullivan, US National Security Advisor in his statement on Tuesday during the opening of this week’s 3-day Nato meet commemorating its 75th anniversary and involving more than thirty leaders said Russian President Vladimir Putin “cannot divide us, outlast us or weaken us”.
Nato’s resolution regarding Ukraine was reiterated by him.
Echoing Sullivan’s words, newly elected UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer noted that the Nato summit would be a chance for allies to express unanimity against Russia.
Sullivan explained that Nato intends to establish a new military command in Germany led by a three-star general who will be responsible for supervising the training of Ukrainian troops while at the same time it is planned to appoint the senior representative in Kyiv whose task would involve strengthening Nato’s relations with Ukraine.
This was part of a wider effort within the alliance aimed at enhancing individual nations’ arms manufacturing capacities as member countries contracted almost $700 million worth production increments of Stinger missiles.
“There can be no strong defense without a strong defense industry,” added Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of NATO.
