The Juvenile Justice Board initially granted bail to the minor less than fifteen hours after his arrest on May 19. In its bail order, JJB asked him to write an essay of 300 words concerning road accidents leading to public outrage against such extreme leniency shown by the board towards him.
Subsequent revocation of his bail led him being taken back at Observation Home until June fifth when he is expected before court again.
According to Sangeeta Tiwari, Pune Congress leader, initial decision by JJB had been utterly unfair.
“Tomorrow anyone can bring down innocent lives under his car wheels and get discharged only because he wrote an essay of either 300 or 600 words. How funny is that? What nonsense is this? The city youth is furious and therefore our party’s youth association has organized this competition so that we can hit hard at this government,” she said.
