Mike Tyson will return to the boxing ring this summer and take on Jake Paul as tickets prices soar and bettor interest goes through the roof.
This contest on July 20 will be at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas broadcast worldwide Netflix as expected the largest bet-wise boxing match of 2021. Fans were already lining up to buy tickets to watch a then 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Tyson fight a 27-year-old social media influencer turned boxer, Paul.
This match will be authorized as a professional game where there will be eight rounds of two minutes each. While it was an exhibition for Tyson’s last fight taking place in 2020 but his most recent professional boxing fight took place in 2005.
The event will also include lightweight world champion Katie Taylor against Amanda Serrano who is known as a pioneer for women’s boxing, and unified featherweight champion too. Their previous sell-out first ever all ladies’ boxing bout was staged at Madison Square Garden.
“The Most Valuable Promotion” said that more than 121k fans have registered for pre-sales for the fight; the company is owned by Paul himself who doubles as the promoter. The tickets go on sale next Thursday.
“This is one-in-a-lifetime event affecting six generations,” said MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian.
Bidarian said there were over 35k requests from people hoping to sit down on venue’s floor and more than ten thousand wanted VIP seating arrangement.
The same promotion also has one special offer: A $2m VIP package according to them that comes with two ringside seats which they claim have never been sold before any other time during boxing matches before now .
Also included in the package are four first row seats to the fight, four second row seats, a pre-fight locker room photo with Paul and Tyson, gloves signed by both fighters and a two-night stay at the hotel for the fighter A place to stay.
“We just want to bring boxing back in a big way. And we haven’t seen that in years.” added Bidalyan
Secondary market places like Gametime have already listed these games on their site available for purchase with $2m being the lowest costs of tickets. Right now you can get into this game from $357 while courtside will set you back $8,067 each.
There has been growing interest in boxing matches too. BetMGM is already accepting wagers about this game. The odds favor Jake Paul (-145) currently however 70% of monies bet are on Tyson.
“This is going to be one of those massive fights that appeal to all types: people who love Tyson, those who hate Jake Paul and even casual sports fans,” explained Alex Rella, Senior Trader at BetMGM. “I fully expect it will be the year’s most gambled-on boxing match.”
The financial terms of this contest and how much Netflix stands to gain from it has not been disclosed yet. In keeping with its expansion into live sports broadcast, Netflix will air the game free for all its subscribers.
Eight figures should be earned by Tyson as well as Paul according to Bidarian.
“We want this to become America’s most streamed sport event,” he concluded.
