Chaturvedi cited a 1975 film called Deewar while addressing an election rally of Sanjay Dina Patil, candidate for Shiv Sena (UBT) Mumbai Northeast in Ghatkopar district.

“Actually, there is a Hindi movie that shows ‘mera baap chor hai’ (my father is a thief) written on the palm of his son’s hand. In the same way, ‘mera baap gaddar hai’ (my father is a traitor) ought to be scrawled over Shrikant Shinde’s forehead,” she said.

Eknath Shinde split from the Shiv Sena in June 2022, ousted the Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray who was also President of their party and aligned himself with BJP as chief minister.

Responding to charges leveled against him by Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy head “gadar”, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde says: “Words used for me’ Also applies to them.”..they abandoned Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideology in 2019…They betrayed their own father’s ideology. They committed an offence and are not forgiven by public ever again… They turned their backs on friends and residents of Maharashtra in 2019.

He went on saying; “The Shiv Sena had same ideology when we campaigned together with the BJP. People believed they would have joint administration since they voted for them. Nevertheless, even now they are in Congress and Sharad Pawar’s pockets, hoping to get chief minister’s post from them… This is called treason… I do not use the same language that they have used… Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe never taught me this.

Reaction to “Gaddar’s” comment

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam also reacted saying: “Shiv Sena (UBT) woman MP said that Maharashtra CM’s son should be written on his forehead On ‘mera baap gaddar hai’. I want to give her a reply, it was the Shiv Sena (UBT) who betrayed, it was Uddhav Thackeray who betrayed the BJP, the people and Balasaheb Thackeray.

“If you want ‘mera baap gaddar hai’ written on Shrikant’s forehead too then ‘mera baap maha gaddar hai’ should also be written on Aaditya Thackeray’s forehead because they did betray,” he added.
