Prince Harry did not mince his words when he was asked about the title that he and his wife Meghan Markel carry despite tearing themselves from being full-time senior working royals in the year 2020. In a no-holds-barred discussion with Cooper while peddling his book Spare, Harry talked about the invasion of privacy considering the intense public interest in the reason for their hold on the Sussex title.
When asked straight out why he and Meg had not given up their titles, he retorted “And what difference would that make?” His forthright comment, like many others, indicated how there was more separation between the couple and the British royal family, which was the topic of arguments among royal enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Interviews were conducted by Cooper Harry as well concerning the subject of the couple’s decision to publish some private exchanges between him and his father, King Charles III, and his brother, Price William. “One of the criticisms you’ve faced is that if you really wanted to move to California, sit back from the institution, why go out public with those statements? It’s better to remain quiet”, said Cooper, as reported by CBS.
Prince Harry fiercely declared, “Every time I have tried to go it alone, an operative was assigned to brief someone, and there were either personalities or stories planted to attack me and my wife. Family motto is never complain, never explain but it’s just that. A motto. It isn’t really effective.”
Despite being fifth in the line of succession to the throne and sixth and seventh in line being his children, he is no longer fith and as such does not bear his royal highness HRH title or Colonel which he surrendered upon retirement from royal official duties.
Today marks the second anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death which was probably without members of the Royal Family, as there are still unresolved issues that separate Prince Harry from his father and brother. As Paul Burrell, a former member of the royal staff explains, that is quite important, certainly for now, there is no way of using the word reunion here. Burrell suggested that the Royal Family has a metaphorical bridge in place, “I think the Royal Family have pulled the drawbridge up,” he said in reference to the increasing distress caused by Harry’s narratives.
