Former top assistant to Hillary Clinton and a contributor on MSNBC Huma Abedin is engaged to Alex Soros, the son of George Soros, who is a billionaire and Democratic donor. In making this announcement, they shared it on social media as Soros publicly proposed to Abedin.
“This happened…we couldn’t be happier, more grateful or more in love,” wrote Soros in his Instagram post.
According to Vogue, the engagement took place at their New York City home last May before going for a vacation in Italy. The two met during a friend’s birthday party in autumn 2023.
Abedin was married to Anthony Weiner between 2010 and 2017; he had been a United States representative. After pleading guilty to transmitting sexual material to a minor, Weiner received an eighteen-month federal prison sentence in May 2017 which prompted her divorce filing soon after that month. Their firstborn child Jordan is currently twelve years old.
Fox News reports that since assuming control of his father’s multibillion dollar Open Society Foundations (OSF) in June 2023, there has been no dearth of headlines about what Alex Soros has done. To mention just but a few examples: he even attended meetings with Pope Francis, some sessions with former President Bill Clinton or holding discussions with leading Democrats hence giving him the impression of someone who can take charge when it comes down talking about policies. Records show that Soros has visited President Biden’s White House at least 20 times.
