With a view to remove obstacles such as electrical poles on roads to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic, Telangana government has taken up removal of electrical poles and distribution transformers on or abutting busy roads as they have been found to be obstructing smooth movement of vehicular traffic.

A review meeting was held on removal of such obstructions from roads by the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) with the senior officials of GHMC, traffic police and town planning.

The meeting was chaired by Chairman and Managing Director of TGSPDCL Md. Musharraf Ali Faruqui.

He stated that as part of the plan to remove obstacles on roads, particularly in the stretches of roads where road expansion work was underway in the city including at Sheikpet, Vanasthalipuram, L.B. Nagar, Gachibowli, Uppal, Habsiguda, Masab Tank and other busy roads. Officers from other civic departments were appointed as nodal officers to resolve problems being encountered in the process.

These nodal officers were formed into a team and were made to visit the field and identify the road obstructions by the month-end and complete the process of necessary estimates/permissions for their removal/relocation. The authorities concerned were instructed to complete the relocation process by February next. Mr. Faruqui directed the Discom officials to remove the unused electricity poles and poles located on the roads immediately.

Srinivasulu, Director Operation (SPDCL) N. Narasimhulu, Director Finance Sudha Madhuri, GHMC Chief Engineer Bhaskar Reddy, SPDCL Chief Engineers Pandya, Chakrapani, Kamesh and others participated in the meeting.
