In Srinagar, on June 19, 2024, security personnel could be seen some distance away from the SKICC. Ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Srinagar on June 20th, 2024 to mark International Yoga Day and as a precautionary measure against any possible danger across Srinagar and the parts of Kashmir Valley, security has been boosted.
More than ₹1500 crore worth of eighty-four major developmental projects in Jammu and Kashmir will be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on Thursday.
Besides, there will also be opening ceremony for other projects such road infrastructure schemes, water supply schemes and others related to infrastructures at higher education instituted according to a PMO release.
Furthermore, other projects where foundation laying will take place are the improvement of Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section; development of Industrial Estates; and Construction of 6 Government Degree Colleges.
The project that is estimated to cost ₹1,800 crore will be launched by the Prime Minister
It will cover all the twenty districts in Jammu region as well as ninety blocks with project outreaches touching three hundred thousand households catered for fifteen lakh beneficiaries in Jamin & Kashmir.
During this visitation the PM is expected to participate in the “Empowering Youth Transforming JK” event which will be held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) located in Srinagar.
This occasion has significant implications for this area seeing as it emphasizes its successes while motivating youngsters towards their own achievements. On this day Prime minister would inspect stalls and interact with Young Achievers of J&K.
The people who have been recruited into government positions would receive appointment letters from the prime minister numbering over two thousand during this time frame.
“The youth need empowerment: hence we are going ahead with laying foundation stones / inaugurations for these projects,” said release statement.
Multi-tier security blanket has been put in place ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to the Union Territory.
“It’s a multi-tier security. As per the security protocols, high-alert security arrangement has been made here,” IGP Kashmir Zone Vidhi Kumar Birdi told ANI on Wednesday.
In addition, Srinagar police have declared the city as a “Temporary Red Zone” for operation of drones and quadcopters.
The police have also informed that all unauthorized drone operations within the Red Zone are punishable under relevant provisions of Drone Rules, 2021.
