Without naming names, Modi lashed out at jailed former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, saying Congress and Indian opposition leaders held rallies in support of corrupt elements
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the NDA government had “exposed” corrupt elements and all corrupt elements would face legal action in the next five years.
Without naming names, Modi lashed out at jailed former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, saying Congress and India’s opposition leaders held rallies in support of corrupt elements.
“Former Jharkhand chief minister was jailed for corruption; Modi is committed to eradicating this menace. Over the next five years, all those indulging in corruption will face legal action,” he said at a meeting in Gumla Sithai said the poll rally, which campaigned for PPP candidate Samir Oraon for the Lokhardaga Lok Sabha seat.
The Indian Prime Minister said: “The leaders of the Indian group, who are mired in corruption, held rallies in places like Delhi and Ranchi to express support for corrupt people, which exposed their true character.”
Modi also blamed Congress for the “backwardness” of tribal areas, claiming that during the UPA regime from 2004 to 2014, food grains rotted in warehouses while tribal children died of starvation.
“The Congress ‘Shahi’ (royal) regime under Sonia Gandhi-Manmohan Singh used to lock foodgrains in godowns and let them rot, while tribal children died of starvation… Now, whatever What the royal family says, no power on earth can do that,” the Prime Minister asserted.
Modi said the NDA government ensured that poor people had access to the internet, while the Congress party was “opposed” to this.
“Today’s youth are the heroes of social media. Congress made the internet a thing for the rich, but Modi ensured that the poor also have access to the internet. We made mobile data affordable for all,” he said.
Modi said that during the NDA regime, Jharkhand received an allocation of Rs 12,000 crore from the District Minerals Foundation Trust (DMFT), unlike the previous Congress-led government which “blocked funds from entering mining areas”.
The prime minister also criticized the Congress for not taking any action against the Maoists “to safeguard the party’s vote bank”. “But as long as Modi is alive, no one will be allowed to put tribal lives at risk,” he said.
“Banned organizations are spreading their tentacles to commit atrocities against tribal women and loot their land,” the prime minister claimed.
“Tribal icon Birsa Munda is more than a name to me, he is an inspiration to overcome challenges. I promise to lead the development of the region.
The Prime Minister ridiculed the JMM-led alliance in Jharkhand for “frequent” leaks of question papers and said his government has introduced a strict law to punish criminals who play with the future of students.
Modi also claimed that the JMM-Congress alliance in the state was conniving at infiltration.
