Justice Manmohan of Delhi High Court, on Monday, (09-02-2024) observed that a PIL seeking a prohibition on OTT series ‘IC-814: The Kandahar hijack’ over the irrefutable facts regarding the identity of the hijackers concerning the real truths has been filed in the court.
The opposition stated that the mini¬series showed the real hijackers’ names as ‘pseudonyms’ which include Mongolian names such as ‘Bhola’ and ‘Shankar’ which are also those of Lord Shiva arouse the sentiments of the Hindu religions in the wrong perspective.
The application of Surjit Singh Yadav a farmer and president of the Hindu Sena prayed for an order to the Central and Maharashtra governments revoking the central board of Film Certification (CBFC) approval of the flimsy mini-series and the banning of any public display of the series.
“The distortion includes elaborate countries in an attempt to fabricinate information regarding Hijackers then assist distortion aspects of history,” petition reads on the impact of movie on sibling proxy war in the series which in these terms have never stopped been cruel aggression.
At the same time, the Indian Government has asked Netflix’s OTT content head to explain as to why the series was made that has led to a controversy about how the hijackers are portrayed and no one has the liberty to play with people’s emotions.
Official channels confirmed that on Tuesday the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ordered the content head of Netflix India to come in for questioning on certain sensitive aspects related to the series depicting the hijacking of an Indian Airline flight by the terror group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen in 1999.
The web series directed by Anubhav Sinha was launched on Netflix on 29th August.
