Payal Kapadia’s highly anticipated film All We Imagine as Light, fresh from winning the Grand Prix at Cannes Film Festival 77, is set to grip the audiences at Munich International Film Festival 2024. The film has been placed just right in the CineMasters Competition category which is one of the main sections of the festival.
With a proud history of showcasing global cinematic excellence, Germany’s second largest after Berlin Munich International Film Festival is known for its rich heritage. All We Imagine as Light will compete against 13 other movies in order to win top awards at the event. It is a pivotal moment for Indian cinema not only because it is Payal Kapadia’s debut but also because this marks the first time any Indian movie directed by a female was featured among films in competition at Cannes.
The recent Grand Prix award at Cannes decided Payal Kapadia’s fate on an international scale and put her under a spotlight. This prize possessed enough status to be considered as festival’s second highest award.
All We Imagine As Light took forty days of filming, illustrating end-of-summer atmosphere around Mumbai before relocating to rainy Ratnagiri Town on the coast according to Deadline. Besides, All We Imagine As Light was made with cooperation with Graffs and Maitra from Petit Chaos and Chalk & Cheese Films respectively based who are Hakim and Julien (Petit Chaos) in Paris noted another report.
