A very old beggar was discovered collapsed on Khushab Road in Pakistan Punjab’s Sargodha district by the Rescue 1122 team, carrying over Rs 0.5 million (1,60,544 INR) with him. He had with him PKR 534,000 and a passport which showed he had been to Saudi Arabia several times.

Last September saw concerns rise about Pakistanis misusing Umrah visas to beg in Saudi Arabia. The News states that this issue was reported to the Senate Committee on Overseas Pakistanis by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.
At a meeting held by the standing committee, the Secretary of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis claimed that Pakistani nationals accounted for 90 percent of all detained beggars abroad. “These arrests have resulted into overcrowded jails for Iraq’s and Saudi Arabian embassies,” he said while addressing senate Committee on Overseas Pakistanis. “Most pickpockets arrested inside Masjid Al Haram in Saudi Arabia are of Pakistani origin who misuse Umrah visas for begging purposes.”
