According to official data, more than 1,900 male passengers have been booked by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for boarding trains that are meant only for female passengers.
₹250 is the fine imposed on a male traveler entering the ladies-only compartment of any coach in the DMRC system, according to officials from the transportation agency.
For January to June 2015, there were 1906 males who were charged with entering women’s coach by DMRC.
In May, however, they issue quite a number of challans amounting up to 443 while in April it was four hundred and nineteen which dropped slightly in February totaling four hundred and eight. In March it also reduced significantly to two hundred and seventy men as in January two fifty five were impacted leading again to one twenty one persons being affected during this month.
Anuj Dayal said “Male passengers who go into women’s compartments are regularly fined by the Delhi Metro; he added that other programmes are often initiated aimed at educating men about this problem.”
Every now then announcements would be made within trains or campaigns that can be found on social sites of DMRC and even from time to time after all. Mr. Dayal added that “A series of special drives are also launched by DMRC towards this end.”

All coaches have seats designated for females. There exist Quick Reaction Teams tasked with inspecting men travelling inside ladies’ compartments as well as effecting arrests when need arise.
From September 2023 onwards, the Delhi Metro had started special drive against entry of male passengers into coaches meant only for female commuters conducted jointly by DMRC and CISF along with DMRP between six pm till ten pm on all lines of the network for ten days till 10th September.
DMRC also runs rapid metro Gurugram and Noida-Greater Noida Aqua Line; it is a system that has twelve different lines encompassing two hundred and eighty eight stations with a total length of three hundred and ninety-three km.
