Manu Thomas, recently expelled from the CPIM’s Kannur Committee in Kerala, has claimed that Akash Thillankeri allegedly threatened him on Facebook. According to Akash’s post, Mr. Thomas was warned that it would be very soon when the party would not allow criticism or any form of dissent and the media will not cover for him. The threat had taken place just after Mr. Thomas made public his allegation that CPI(M) leader P. Jayarajan and other leaders of this party were colluding with “quotation” and “gold smuggling gangs.”
Allegations and Counterclaims
Denying the charges P Jayarajan said on Facebook on 26th June that he did not believe in false claims which he says should never be supported by a political party while urging Thomas to rescind his allegations against him. In addition, Jayarajan attacks Thomas for failure to observe non-engagement in trade after joining the district committee as well as media “glorifying” his down fall.
In his strongly worded response on Facebook Mr. Thomas has accused Mr.Jayarajan of being responsible for many crises within the party over time.
Thomas argued that what he is going through is ‘pity full’ and challenged him to defend himself publicly. He also sought to know why area secretaries for quarry owners were created secretly, when fractions are formed within the party and “the businesses built using his son and quotation gangs.”
CPI(M) unhappy with Jayarajan’s facebook comments
The state leadership of CPI(M) is apparently unhappy with Mr. Jayarajan’s untimely posting on Facebook which was seen as being wrong under such circumstances. Especially after a press conference by CPI(M) Kannur district secretary M.V.Jayarajan had been conducted to officially address this matter.
Consequently, such posts are believed by top officials to undermine their efforts towards appropriately managing internal disputes.”
