Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Hamirpur constituency Anurag Thakur during his ‘Vijay Sankalp Yatra’ and public meetings in his Parliamentary constituency for the Lok Sabha elections, in Hamirpur district on May 11, 2024.
On Wednesday, Union Minister Anurag Thakur dismissed INDIA’s accusation of lack of jobs as “misleading and hollow”. According to him, job creation has been supported by credit-led employment models and Central Government schemes. Over the past ten years more than 50 crores persons-year have been generated because of these two drivers for growth in this world’s largest democracy.
Mr. Thakur said here that,”The so-called Opposition alliance which is nothing but a disparate group of incongruous political parties is spreading misinformation on jobs for petty electoral gains.”
The SKOCH report observed that since 2014 there have been five point one four crore person years of work done annually.
“In the first four phases ofthe Lok Sabha election , the voters have already given their thumbs-up for the track record of the Modi government on both social and infrastructure development. This report shows why the masses are not buying into the Opposition’s propaganda,” Mr. Thakur said.
There were claims by the opposition that poverty had not decreased at all. However, hard facts show that poverty levels fell dramatically over Modi-decade compared to UPA decade before it based on data-driven studies by international organizations like World Bank and IMF,” he added.“Banner headlines used to be corruption under Congress-era UPA rule; but development grabs them under this government led by Modi –that’s where they diverge.”
Elaborating onthe SKOCH report, Mr.Thakur stated that outof allthe51 .40 crore person-years of employment created, morethan a third -19.79crore- were due to various policies and programmes of the government. According to him, almost 31.61 crore person years of employment that are credit-linked have come from the government’s inclusive approach including schemes such as PM Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Gram Sadak Yojana, Skill Development Scheme and PM Swanidhi.
The Minister stated that “Appeasement and vote bank politics is not working in favour of INDI alliance. The Congress has earned a lot of disapproval by promising to levy inheritance tax which they would share with their vote bank. That is why they lost heavily during these initial phases. I am now curious how INDI alliance leaders will spend their next 15 days in election campaign.”
“Modi 3.0 will bring bigger changes and transformation.” Mr.Thakur added.“Soon we shall be among the top three biggest economies,” says Thakur.
According to the Minister there were total number of 76 million people who were registered in EPFO covering all age groups from2018 –2024.“This means so many people had formal sector employment even when COVID disrupted the economy for nearly two years. About30 cr e-Shram cards were issued through which people received first aid,” he said.
