On Monday (June 10, 2024) morning, a T.N. State Transport Corporation bus from Coimbatore to Kovilpatti fell on its side after hitting a parapet wall on the Virudhunagar-Sattur highway and killed N. Bhuvaneswari (33) from Coimbatore, a female passenger during the accident which happened around 5.30 a.m.
The accident resulted in injuries of 40 passengers and crew members inside the bus who had been transported to Government Virudhunagar medical college hospital but unfortunately Ms. Bhuvaneswari died at later times due to those injuries.
Police believe that Murugabhoopathi dozed off while driving and hence lost control of the moving bus.The vehicle knocked against parapet wall near Vachchakarapatti bus stop.Extensive damage was done on the bus where its axle broke and all four wheels came out of it.
Another casualty in this incident is Mr. Prabhu aged only thirty one years from Coimbatore with head injuries.
A case has been registered by The Vachchakarapatti police who are investigating.
