Counting Centre confusion due to an officer on counting duty who had forgotten the keys to a strong room where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were stored. The officer forgot his keys at home.
On arriving at the strong room, Vijayapura city corporation commissioner M.R. Sharif found that he had left them at home. He hurried back to his house and returned with it. This of votes has been delayed by some few minutes.
Counting in Belagavi, Chikkodi, Vijayapura and Bagalkot started around 7 am as the officials began sorting postal ballots.
In Belagavi and Chikkodi, the first round of this was completed by about 9 am.
