Mohan Charan Majhi, of BJP, will be sworn in as Odisha’s new chief minister on 12 June 2024.
This was hours before the swearing-in ceremony of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government when Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister Designate for Odisha, came to Bhubaneswar’s former CM’s home Naveen Patnaik and asked him to grace the occasion.
The invitation was offered at Mr. Patnaik’s Naveen Niwas residence by Mr. Majhi.
In conversations with journalists outside Naveen Niwas, he said that he had come to the former chief minister’s house and invited him to the oath-taking ceremony “in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji would also participate.” He further requested Patnaik’s blessings upon the new state administration formed by BJP.
He added that Mr. Patnaik promised him he’d show up.
On Tuesday, five-member team led by state president Man mohan Samal from Bharatiya Janata Party went to Naveen Niwas over an invitation to attend swearing-in ceremony extended to Mr.Pattnaik
Earlier in various prominent places of Bhubaneswar, accompanied with deputy CMs designate K.V.Singh Deo and Prabhati Parida, Shri Majhi paid homage at different locations across the city at statues such as Utkala Mani Gopabandhu Das, Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das, Sriram Chandra Bhanj Deo and Parala Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati & Ramachandra Mardaraj Deo etc.
He also offered floral tributes at Fakir Mohan Senapati statue at Vani Vihar Square; Dharanidhar Bhuyan statue at Mayfair Square; Gangadhar Meher statue at Kalinga Hospital Square; and Birsa Munda statue at Maitri Vihar.
