According to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on June 10, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should demand special status for the state from a nationwide caste census and more quotas for backward castes before the Narendra Modi administration.
In the evening hours, after returning from Delhi, Bihar’s ex-deputy CM told journalists that State was playing a determining role and that Mr. Modi who had won elections third time in a row as PM now appears weaker than ever before.
“In present Lok Sabha opposition is strong and Bihar is playing a deciding factor. Lately he has stopped mentioning even about it, though Modi has been promising for long the special status. So Nitish ji should apply his mind also pressurize by demanding special status to Bihar as well as caste-wise census nationally.” “When we were part of the Government we increased SCs/STs/OBCs Quotas too. Also not yet decided is placing law in ninth schedule so that it withstand judicial scrutiny,” he said
Moreover, according to RJD leader allocation of positions in new Union Council of Ministers indicated that people from Bihar had been treated unfairly. He stated that “In this very case there have been numerous charge-sheets against us and let government understand that times are different now.” “Unless agencies change their behavior Parliament would be brought down.”
Additionally asked about his own party’s performance at the polls where they got only four seats despite registering the highest vote percentage, Yadav said: “Just look at our performance in the last Lok Sabha polls (when RJD drew a blank), after which we emerged as the single largest party in the state assembly. In Parliament our numbers have gone up 400%. The same will get reflected in assembly polls,” claimed RJD leader.
The second biggest ally of BJP missed majority by a few seats when JD (U) secured 12 seats during Lok Sabha polls.
