A meeting of the 9th Governing Council of NITI Aayog under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced in New Delhi on July 27th.
The meeting aims at transforming India into a developed nation by 2047. It is designed to create a sense of shared responsibility and joint action between the Centre and States, forging a partnership for national development that will improve the quality of life for rural and urban citizens by strengthening government systems for effective adoption of policies.
This consists of chief ministers from all states, lieutenant governors from union territories and several union ministers who are part of this highest body within NITI Aayog where PM Modi is currently serving as chairman.
In relation to those there have been recommendations made during this conference about five major themes – drinking water: access, quantity, and quality; electricity: quality, efficiency, and reliability; health: accessibility, affordability, and quality of care; schooling: access and quality and land and property: accessibility, digitization, registration, and mutation.
A vision document is being prepared to make India an economy worth $30 trillion by 2047 when it will celebrate its hundred years since gaining independence.
In 2023 NITI Aayog was entrusted with consolidating ten sectoral thematic visions into one single consolidated vision document for Viksit Bharat @2047.
It captures different aspects including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability among others which are key elements in development.
