On Tuesday, New Zealand announced that it shall be dispatching 41 more servicemen to United Nations mission on Demilitarised Zone dividing North and South Korea. The country wants to move forward its presence in international missions.
According to the Defence Minister Judith Collins, this is a proof of New Zealand’s commitment to sustain peace and security within the Korean Peninsula as she revealed a decision by the nation to bring additional troops from twelve up-to fifty three that would boost UN Command Security Battalion.
The deployment which has continued for years will be extended until September 2026, Collins stated.
Since he assumed office last year, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has been trying to increase New Zealand participation internationally by sending maritime security personnel into the Red Sea.
