Niru talks about the social stigma faced by working mothers as well as answers some intrusive questions that are often asked. “No one asks the father even if they miss their children,” she observes. Sometimes, this was not just a lack of solidarity between women but in many ways serving to compound the judgment and critisism with which working mothers were treated.

“Anaya is very intelligent kid. You know mommy has to go to work -she has been trained like that. It is just our job it’s just like you know we’re in military; we go out don’t know when its coming back’” reiterated Niru Bajwa. “How was your day? How was shoot?”
This shows that Anaya understands what her mother does and they have developed a deep bond. Niru could not hide her shock at how composed Anaya was, after all Niru had thought Anaya had never known that she worked outside their home.
