Two Special Task Force (STF) personnel were killed and four others injured when Naxalites exploded an improvised explosive device (IED) in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday, July 18, 2024, according to the police.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night at Tarrem area as a security team was returning after a counter-Naxal operation in forests at junction of Bijapur-Sukma-Dantewada districts, according to a senior police officer here.
“On Tuesday we launched this operation based on credible inputs about the presence of Naxalites IC- Darbha and IC – West Bastar Divisions & military company no.2” he said. “STF – DRG – two units of State Police/CRPF including CoBRA its elite unit were involved in this action,” he added.
According to him:- “Two STF constables who died in the blast triggered by Maoists are Bharat Sahu from Raipur and Satyer Singh Kange from Narayanpur district while four other personnel sustained injuries”.
He also said that reinforcement was sent immediately after the incident and those injured were taken for treatment.
