The photo is showing milk buying from farmers in Banikuppe village of Ramanagaram taluk by a milk producers co-operative society. The average daily production of milk in Karnataka has grown up from 90 lakhs liters to 99 lakh liters per day as stated by CM Siddaramaiah.
Opposition parties have reacted sharply after the price of Nandini milk was hiked. The chief minister, Siddaramiah, however defended the action as a mere “adjustment”. He said that Karnataka Milk Federation will charge ₹2 more for every sachet containing an extra 50 ml of milk to consumers.
In a statement clarifying that the price of Nandini milk would not go up, the CM announced that each packet will contain 50ml more at proportionate increase in value.
This move by KMF aimed at eliminating rejection cases where dairy farmers had surplus production according to Mr. Siddaramaiah.
Extra volume, extra price
A current 500 ml toned milk pack costs ₹22 only. This same and sized package will now be sold at ₹24 by KMF. In another example, there was a one litre pack which used to cost₹42 but now it will sell at ₹44 for a quantity of 1,050 ml.
Prices will go up for other categories of milk as well under the Nandini brand.

Speaking to X , the Chief Minister revealed that compared with last year’s statistics, this year’s milk production figures went up by almost 15%. “This year we have seen an average growth of ninety-nine lakh litres per day as compared to ninety lakh litres on an average on previous years during purchasing season immediately following heavy rains,” he wrote. To absorb this excesses and ensure no farmer is send away empty handed, KMF has decided to add fifty millimeters (mm) into each packet while charging just two rupees (Rs.) for it” There is no inflation in the rate per unit of milk price,” he said.
Increased milk production
In a reference to the ₹3 increase in the cost of milk, Siddaramaiah recalled that the extra cash collected was used to stimulate growth in dairy farming in the state. “Just when we took over this government, the average daily milk collection in Karnataka was just about 72 lakhs liters. The additional amount of money was meant for farmers through an increment of ₹3 into the existing price of milk which enhanced profit margins for any farmer involved in dairy farming. Apart from this improved rains have provided enough green fodder for animals.” This has led to increased milk yield thus reaching approximately 1 crore liters per day, he added.
