A squad from Mysuru emerged victorious in the all-around competition at the 14th State-level Sports Meet of the Hearing Impaired held at Bagalkot on September 29. The events were organised on the ground of Basaveshwara High School and they managed to gather up to 173 points.
The Bengaluru squad scored 103 points while the Mandya district athletes took the second slot with 64 points. The District team of Bagalkot residents came 7th getting 29 points.
The Bagalkot District Deaf Sports Association in partnership with the Karnataka Deaf sports Federation held this 3 day programm. 465 athletes from 20 of Karnataka’s districts, including 126 female students aged 12 to 18 years participated.
New event-level Records
Uttara Kannada Preeti Hegde crossed a height of 1.10m while competing in women’s high jump (above 18 years). It’s indeed a new record set by her.
Tumakuru’s Govindaraju set a record by jumping over a height of 1.50m in the men’s under 18 high jump event.
In the high jump for women under 18 event, Mohita R. from Tumkur set a record with a height of 1.20 m.
V. Kumar, President, All India Deaf Sports Federation, New Delhi, has stated that such winners and those who will be victorious in the Gwalior event will be participating at the next level within the national competition which will be held in Gwalior end of Madhya Pradesh March 2025.
