Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House, has been clearly depicted as a person whose main objective is to stop Donald Trump from becoming president again. Speaking about the missed chance of preventing him from running for office through impeachment by the Senate following the January 6 attack on the Capitol building, Pelosi blamed Republicans in her chamber for failing to uphold justice.
“Can I say this any better? My goal in life was to keep that man out of White House,” Pelosi said.
Pelosi regrets missing out on an opportunity to prevent Trump from holding future office. It would have made impossible for him to become president again had he been found guilty by the Senate on impeachment counts related to January 6, 2021 events at Capitol Hill according to her. She also accuses Senate Republican leaders of making such decision and states that it is a disgraceful act.
Once out of the speakership position, Pelosi still exercises quite an influence on Democratic Party and has a significant input into its strategy. Her push for change led Joe Biden into withdrawing his candidacy and backing Kamala Harris as he partner with Tim Walz being picked as running mate.
Pelosi warned Biden against debating with Trump terming him “snake oil salesman” arguing it wasn’t wise interacting with him either. The latter advise formed part of her bigger plan which aimed at strengthening the Democrats ticket and ensuring their victory in forthcoming election. Pelosi believed that rather than launching potentially unsuccessful campaigns against Trump, his decision not run for presidency would help protect his legacy.
Identified with unstinting support for prior House members, Pelosi understands their ability to maneuver through legislative intricacies effectively. Albeit she hasn’t publicly backed any specific vice presidential candidate yet emphasised on importance of choosing someone who can help govern along with Harris.
Pelosi sees among young people supporting Democrats in Pennsylvania/Wisconsin/Michigan as evidence of an energized party base during visits by Harris & Walz around key swing states thus pointing towards a shift within them favorable road to 2024.
While discussing her new book, “The Art of Power: My Story as America’s First Woman Speaker of the House,” with journalists and columnists the other day, Pelosi insisted that concentrating on future goals in an election rather than what someone had already achieved was important. She seeks an end to politics based violence and demonstrates her determination to make changes in political landscape which are compatible with her vision.
When asked if the title of her book was intentionally reminiscent of Trump’s “The Art of the Deal,” Pelosi replied, “Nothing that I do has anything to do with him except his downfall.”
