The Kerala Muslim Jamaat has objected to the appointment of Sriram Venkitaraman, Joint Secretary and Officer on Special Duty (Finance Resources), as the supervising officer of Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) complaint redressal cell in connection with the Wayanad landslides.
According to Kerala Muslim Jamaat district committee here on Tuesday (August 6, 2024), it was “abominable and a challenge to the rule of law” to allocate such funds under Mr. Venkitaraman who should be honest and accountable for any cent.
Mr. Venkitaraman killed Siraj journalist K.M. Basheer in a drunk road rage incident in Thiruvananthapuram on August 3, 2019.
Interestingly, it was only today fifth death anniversary Basheer that Road Rage accused Culprit Mr. Venkitaraman has been appointed as head of CMDRF complaint redressal cell for Wayanad.
Muslim Jamaat is requesting that the Kerala government reconsider him since he is an extremely controversial character devoid of honesty.”
“He is not only supporting wrongdoers and rogue officers but also insulting honest officers who are committed to people’s service by appointing people like Mr. Venkitaraman in posts that require exceptional transparency and sincerity.” We want him removed from that post,” said the Muslim Jamaat.
