A 25-year-old man from Rajasthan was arrested for allegedly threatening Salman Khan, an actor in a YouTube video by South Mumbai Cyber Police.
Identification of Accused
Banwarlal Laturlal Gujar, the accused is a resident of Boarda village located at Hindoli, Rajasthan. It was after a video that contained threats made to Khan emerged on “Are Chhodo Yar” channel that the police identified him.
Threat Details
According to sources cited in Mid-Day, Gujar mentioned Bishnoi gang and threatened to kill Salman Khan in the video.
Police Action and Investigation
The arrest as well as the allegations against Gujar were confirmed by DCP Datta Nalawade of South Cyber Police Station. Besides section 66(d) of IT Act, Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections on criminal intimidation (506 & 504) and abetment (34) also applied.
“Keeping in mind severity of this matter,” declared DCP Nalawade, “a police team has been sent to Rajasthan for further investigations.” The group which has detained Gujar is expected to reach Mumbai later today according to him.
This arrest comes amid increased security around Salman Khan following a shooting incident outside his house in April 2024. Consequently, investigation into this latest threat is still underway.
