Five cases, including a complaint of rape against actor-legislator M. Mukesh have been registered in four police stations by the Kochi City police in response to the sexual harassment charges levelled by a woman actor against seven people following the Hema committee report.
The First Information Report (FIR) against Mukesh has been registered by the Maradu police under IPC Sections 376 (rape) which in nonbailable offence, IPC Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and Section 509 (insult modesty of a woman with words, sounds or gestures or object).
All the cases would be transferred to SIT for further investigation

Actor and former office bearer of A.M.M.A Maniyanpillai Raju and Production Controller Noble have been booked under IPC Sections 354 and 509 by the police stations Fort Kochi and Ernakulam Town North respectively.
The SIT has also taken serious cognizance of all the five accused who were among the seven in which the actor has made the number of petitions before the woman actor with the Special Investigation Team headed by DIG Ajeetha Begum investigating the sexual harassment that took place on Tuesday in response to this. Thereafter, an SIT team headed by Ms. Begum was granted access to the petitioner to take her statement at her apartment which took several hours on Wednesday August 28, 2024.
The tussle for the ouster of CPI(M) MLA Mukesh, PAC member-eminent actor, seems to be likely to become louder in the wake of the registration of the FIR. Women social activists associated with the leftist groups have also called for his ouster.
