On July 30, heavy rains caused the Munnar hill station in Idukki district of Kerala to experience mudslips. District authorities have not reported any deaths yet. Nevertheless, the hill station was largely cut off from the rest of the district.
The police have prohibited vehicles on Gap Road stretch of Kochi-Dhanushkodi national highway at Munnar.

District authorities explained that mudslips took place on Munnar-Maryaur inter-State route, Munnar-Pallivasal road and Kochi-Dhanushkodi national highway.
Devikulam Sub-Collector V.M. Jayakrishnan stated that a vast amount of mud and boulders fell onto the road due to heavy rainfall thus making it impassable for vehicles on Kochi-Dhanushkodi highway. He mentioned that they were trying to remove debris from this major road.

G. Sojan, coordinator of My Munnar Movement said all major routes leading to the hill station were completely blocked after landslides and mudslides occurred.
Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine summoned an emergency online meeting on July 30 following heavy showers and multiple instances of landslip.
