Madiga community leaders participating in a rally to welcome MRPS chief Manda Krishna Madiga, in Hyderabad on Tuesday (August 13, 2024)
The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), Madiga Schedule Caste Community and its sub-castes experienced a massive and warm receiving of its founder president Mr. Manda Krishna Madiga at Secunderabad railway station on Tuesday August 13th of 2024.
People from the Telangana State as well as Andhra Pradesh came to the railway station where a rally passed by the city from Secunderabad towards Basheerbagh through Ranigunj and Tank Bund (Krishna Madiga) for his first time after SC’s ruling on sub categorization of Scheduled caste.
Mr. Krishna Madiga came in an open-top vehicle with many people chanting victory songs towards him. Their support was based on his three decades fight for equity among the Madigas (Kumar). On their way to Basheerbagh, while passing through Tank Bund they garlanded B.R.Ambedkar’s statue.
This event followed the Supreme Court decision of August 1st which saw a seven-judge Constitution Bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud upholding the right of States to sub-categorize Scheduled Castes mentioned in Presidential List thereby giving them more preferential treatment in public employment and education.
Revanth Reddy, Telangana Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the Supreme Court’s verdict supporting reservation within reservations for SCs into Groups A, B, C and D; He pledged that this judgement would be speedily implement by the state guaranteeing that government job notifications would reflect such sub caste categorization.
