The National Police Chiefs Council said on Tuesday that more than 1,000 people had been arrested by British authorities following several days of riots and protests involving vandalism, looting, arson, violence and racial attacks against immigrants and Muslims.
After the July 29th bombing in Southport, which was wrongly blamed on an Islamist immigrant due to fabricated information circulated online, there were three child murders noticed in Northern England. Starting from this day chaos reigned across all major cities of the country plus Northern Ireland although unrest has decreased since last week as a result of intensified efforts to identify rioters.
In Liverpool alone many have already been sentenced to long prison terms.
According to the latest update by the ‘National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) 1024 were put under arrest and 575 charged across UK.
Liverpool police also apprehended a 69-year-old who was allegedly responsible for vandalism.
“We are grateful for your prompt response,” says Thomas Power at Basingstoke Magistrates Court after a 13-year-old girl pleaded guilty to violent disorder. Her violent behavior was captured on camera when she was filmed punching and kicking the entrance of an asylum seeker’s hotel on July 31st.
“This event caused genuine fear among individuals that these hooligans targeted which is particularly shocking that such a young girl took part in this violent disorder.” The prosecutor commented on this action.
There have not been any widespread riots since then though it does not mean there weren’t serious incidents taking place elsewhere during this time. In fact around four thousand people were nabbed over some weeks as fast and tough judicial processes had a calming effect on the situation.
