The Mobile Eye Health Van donation to Sightsavers India was recently presented by Alcon (India) in order to ensure that the slum dwellers of urban Bengaluru have access to eye care.
This partnership is part of an ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Alcon India as stated in the press release and aims at helping people in seeing better. As such, it plans on delivering quality eye care services to around 7000 individuals living in these marginalized areas.
This program will take into account major hurdles faced by those who live in poor communities when attempting to reach good optical health such as lack of funds and absence of health care facilities nearby. The channel is equipped with modern technology like a fundus camera for diagnosis diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma, slit lamp for diagnosis retinal diseases and tele-consultation facility.
Some of the key locations this initiative seeks to cover are Bangalore South including HSR Layout, Madiwala, Koramangala, Kumaraswamy Layout and Jayanagara; Bangalore North including Abbigere, Amruthalli, Dasarahalli, Yelahanka and Hebbal; Bangalore East involving Avalahalli, Dommasandra, etc. along with Bidarahalli; and Bangalore West comprising Basaveshwaranagara, Chandra Layout, Kengeri, Mahalakshmi Layout, Mathikere area.
