On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the Meteorological Office lifted the red warning in at least eight central districts of Madhya Pradesh due to the dangerous heavy rain expected within 24 hours.
According to it, in eight districts of the state including Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Sehore and Harda the rainfall may exceed 204 mm.
‘A well marked low pressure area exists over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and in due course of time it shall be developed into a depression in the next 12 hours, heavy rains are thus expected over the states. In the last 24 hour period rainfall in Damoh was the highest at 215mm, Jabalpur followed closely with 190 mm and Narsinghpur rainfall recorded 178 mm whereas a significant quantity of rain fell over the state too. Coming to the forecast trends in the state in the next 24 hours, the meteorologist remarked, “According to the advisory, a red alert has been issued in at least eight districts of central Madhya Pradesh for extremely heavy rainfall which may go beyond 204 mm of rainfall. In this regard, an orange alert has also been pilot tested in the districts adjoining the red alarm districts of Central MP. The rainfall in these areas is likely to be between 115mm and 204mm
In addition, he added that a yellow alert has been issued for the remaining districts in the state. “The probability of getting rain will still be there in the state when one post 24 hr period even though the probability of very heavy showers will have gone down but the state will still experience prospects of downpour. Other than that, a new system is reaching Madhya Pradesh so the rains will persist for almost a week in the state,” Meteorologist Yadav said.
Speaking of the weather in Bhopal, he said there would be heavy rains there today, after which the amount of precipitation would drop somewhat, but for the next four days the city would experience a lot of rain as well.
