Is Meghan Markle the reason behind the discord between Prince Harry and US president-elect Donald Trump? According to royal photographer, the Duke of Sussex, Harry, known for his “affable” nature, might have maintained a more amicable relationship with Trump if he were still an active member of the British royal family.
The complex relationship between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Donald Trump, and the British royal family have become increasingly evident, especially as Trump positions himself for a potential return to the presidency in January 2025.
Why Prince Harry doesn’t get on with Donald Trump
The royal photographer Arthur Edwards told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show that: “Harry is a pretty affable guy and if it were necessary he would obviously get on with Trump. If he was here working with the royal family and Trump made an official visit, Harry would do his job and do it properly.”
He further elaborated on the relationship dynamics between the Sussexes and the former US president, stating: “I think it’s quite well known that Harry and Meghan don’t particularly get on with Donald Trump. I think Meghan doesn’t get on with him. That’s probably why Harry doesn’t get on with him.”
Why is it important to mend their relationship
The Royal Photographer also shared the importance of showing respect to the US head of state. He said, “You’re dealing with the President of the United States, a very powerful role. It doesn’t matter who’s the president – he’s the elected representative of the most powerful country in the world,” The Sun’s Royal Exclusive reported.
Two years after stepping away from the Royal Family and relocating to California, Prince Harry revealed in his memoir that he had taken drugs. This admission sparked controversy, as US law typically denies visas to individuals who have used drugs.
Following the memoir’s release, a lawsuit was filed challenging Harry’s US visa, alleging that he either misrepresented his history on the visa application or received preferential treatment.
After Donald Trump’s re-election, the issue resurfaced, with aides to Harry and Meghan stating that the couple was prepared to contest any potential deportation threats from the Trump administration.
Prince William met with Donald Trump in Paris
Last week, Prince William met with Donald Trump during the re-opening of Notre Dame in Paris. According to Kensington Palace, William emphasised the importance of the US-UK “special relationship” during their discussion. Trump also enquired Prince William about his wife Kate Middleton and father King Charles.
This was Prince William’s first journey to Paris following his 2017 trip, and the first time he had encountered Trump since the American president’s official UK visit in 2019.
The Notre Dame reopening marks a significant moment for France, with dozens of world leaders, including British royalty, attending. The historic cathedral, an iconic symbol of French heritage, was nearly destroyed in a fire that engulfed its spire and roof.
