Meghan Markle’s announcement of her upcoming Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan has sparked mixed reactions online, with many royal fans criticising the show for being “out of touch.”
The trailer, posted on Markle’s Instagram, shows her in her Montecito kitchen and garden, interacting with guests, including Mindy Kaling. Meghan said, “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it.”
The series is set to launch on January 15, having been teased last March when Meghan launched her brand, American Riviera Orchard.
Mixed reactions from fans
As the trailer launched, royal fans didn’t seem as enthusiastic as Meghan. Many took to social media platform X to express their discontent, calling the series “terrible” and “privileged.”
“Uh no thanks,” one user wrote, while another bluntly commented, “This looks terrible.” A third added, “Rather watch paint dry.” Some felt Meghan was out of touch, criticising her for cooking meals that “nobody can afford right now.”
One X user summed up the sentiment, saying: “Who is the target audience?? Women with tons of money and time on their hands making extremely fussy treats and crafts? Incredibly entitled.”
Blogger Meghan McCain also criticised the Duchess of Sussex for being out of touch. “I was originally a Meghan Markle supporter. I thought she was cool, stylish, and refreshing. Like the rest of the world, my opinion changed when she disrespected the royal family. Now that she wants to be American again instead of British aristocracy, what she seems to forget is Americans want real, raw, uncensored,” she expressed her disapproval of the Duchess.
“All of this, even in the trailer, is highly curated, produced, and out of touch. There have been two terror attacks in two days, major wars raging, and Americans can’t pay for groceries. We are a country in rage, uncertainty, and intensity right now,” she added.
Despite the backlash, some fans are eagerly awaiting the series. “You have made my day,” one supporter commented. Others expressed excitement for the upcoming seasons, with one saying, “Such great news! I cannot wait to watch Meghan’s cooking and gardening/lifetime show!”
