The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are understood to be planning to bring their children, Archie and Lilibet along, and hold a holiday celebration in the UK. However, they might not be in the Sandringham for what has been described as the family’s customary Christmas. Rather, another fascinating option supervened: a proposition by Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer, to hold the festivities in Althorp.
The source declined to reveal unless the invitation from Spencer as a family member is extended to them remains valid. “Charles, Spencer invited Harry, Meghan, and the children to Althorp for Christmas, a year I understand is too far away sheds light on this issue. However, the option is available for them as and when they feel comfortable,” the source revealed.
This is a very nice offer, but also not an invitation to Sandringham so far. Still, the option is there and has not been ruled out. “There is nothing that says there has been an invitation extended to Sandringham just yet, but this does not mean that one will not be forthcoming,” the insider disclosed. “There was a likely event of an invitation extended, which would be unlikely,‚ and I don’t think they [the Sussexes] would take them up on it anyway.”
The source hinted at a more domestic affair with Spencer rather than a public ceremony. “Though the Duke and Duchess are yet to go to accept the so-called invitation, they might want to experience an ordinary Christmas at Althorp instead of the large celebration with the rest of the Royal Family.”
