New Delhi: India lodges protest with Beijing, demands construction of a road inside shakshgan valleyPakistan ceded it to China in 1963, claiming it as part of Indian territory.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (thing) stated that India has never accepted the so-called China-Pakistan Boundary Agreement of 1963. According to this agreement, Pakistan tried to illegally cede the area to China, and India has always rejected it.
“We have expressed our protest to China against illegal attempts to change the facts. We further reserve the right to take necessary measures to safeguard our interests.” He was responding to media inquiries about reports that China is building roads in the area.
India maintains that under the 1963 agreement, Pakistan illegally ceded 5,180 square kilometers of Indian territory in the Shaksgam Valley to China from the Union Territory of Ladakh, which was illegally occupied by Pakistan. It also maintained that China continues to illegally occupy about 38,000 square kilometers of Indian territory in Ladakh over the past 60 years.
