The 32RED Entertainment, in conjunction with Manasvi Mamgai, has officially declared the release of their new thriller, Captivated at the Cannes Market. The movie starring Katie Holmes, Toby Kebbell and Academy Award winner Al Pacino will explore the infamous Jean Paul Getty III kidnapping that happened in 1973 from a fresh angle.
Manasvi Mamgai on her production Captivated being presented at Marché du Film in Cannes, “Bringing the film to life has been a deeply personal and passionate journey”
Captivated is directed by Dito Montiel who co-wrote it with Robin Shushan and Michael Mammoliti. The movie focuses on Saro, a mafia boss from Calabria acted by Tobey Kebbell (in present day played by Al Pacino). It delves into the depths of what goes around when Saro falls for his victim’s mother (Katie Holmes), while she tries to negotiate her son’s release.
Michael Mammoliti also feels very passionate about this project since he is actually the nephew of one of the kidnappers. As an individual that has followed closely this narrative over time, Mammoliti intends to bring forth a fresh and unheard perspective about Captivated.
Manasvi Mamgai stated that,“Bringing Captivated to life has been a deeply personal and passionate journey.”We are dedicated to showing audiences untold layers of this historic event; bringing out emotional complexity as well as unheard voices. This film will resonate with audiences by offering a fresh and compelling perspective.”
Manasvi Mamgai together with Michael Benaroya, Michael Mammoliti and Andrea Bucko could be considered key figures towards making this project happen. Her words were as follows: “We want show what really transpired during that period through our characters.”
Principal photography on Captivated is set for early next winter in Italy. International Film Trust (IFT), has the global sales while also having shown the movie at Marché du Film in Cannes this week. IFT, 32RED Entertainment and Sugar Rush Pictures also finance this project.
“Captivated has all the ingredients of a great film, a fantastic script, stellar cast, and visionary director,” Benaroya Pictures CEO and IFT Founder Michael Benaroya said.” We couldn’t be more excited to have it on our slate.”
“Our goal is to give a voice to a person who’s had none for 50+ years, and tell a side of this story no one knows.”—Mammoliti
