GENEVA: A man with knife stabbed six people in the streets of Zofingen on Wednesday, a northern Swiss City, then he was later held by the police.
According to Police, some of the victims were seriously injured. However, they did not immediately reveal details about attacker who had also hurt himself and his motives.
The man first picked out a passerby at railway station from where he started stabbing other people randomly before getting into a house as stated by police in their statement.
He then wounded several individuals at random and entered a house according to reports by police officers themselves.
The police reported that all six individuals were attacked through social media posts.
“After 2 hours of negotiation with interventional team,” said the police. They arrested him when the special forces came around. The suspect had hurt himself and was taken to hospital first”, Bernhard Graser, a Police spokesman explained
Graser told Zofinger Tagblatt newspaper that injuries sustained by the attacker were self-inflicted
Police have appealed for anyone with videos or photos which may help their investigations to submit them.
According to Aargauer Zeitung paper, one person claimed that his pregnant wife fell among those who fell victim of such kind of attack. She was slashed across her face but her life was not in danger.
Aargauer Zeitung displayed images showing many policemen and ambulances present. The military personnel there wore bullet-proof jackets and carried assault rifles.
This caused an early termination of training for local youth football club after a police helicopter landed on nearby sports field (newspaper), due to the above image.
