A man in Nuneaton, Warwickshire has been jailed for four months after being found with a 6-inch Master Sword replica in public. The sword was reported to be spotted on Anthony Bray toping the streets of the area on June 8th by Eurogamer. When walking past CCTV, Anthony could be seen carrying the sword hence he was arrested by Warwickshire police for possession of the bladed article.
Bray claimed that the sword was a “fidget” toy he had bought online to keep his hands busy. Nevertheless, they noted that the pointed object could be used as weapon and it might make some individuals fearful. The sheath contained a concealed blade which would come out upon pressing a button.
Nevertheless, when interviewed regarding specifics of Master Sword’s threatening potential Bray reassured beyond doubt that he would not use it as an actual instrument of aggression. On June 28th, Bray was given four months’ imprisonment along with £154 ($195) for victims’ surcharge.
Sergeant Spellman from Patrol Investigations Unit said: “We have zero tolerance towards bladed articles in public places and Bray has broken this law. There are fidget toys which are not six inches long blades. It is possible not to walk down the street holding them out in front of you.” Sergeant Spellman concluded by saying ,“With just a little more self-awareness than he showed,” I said, “he needn’t have come into contact with us at all.”
