On Tuesday, just a few minutes prior to his flight to Australia departing from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad, the Mahankali police detained a man who reportedly sexually assaulted a woman on the pretext of marriage.
The police officers said Swamy Bandaram was 29 years old and lived at Gangapur in Jangaon. Only eight months ago, he had moved to Australia but flew back to India one month ago due to his father’s sickness.
“He came down here in Hyderabad and met this lady he made as her friend on social media. And they stayed together for three days at Mahankali police station limit hotel from 3rd July till 5th July after which the complainant went back home leaving Mr. Swamy allegedly not picking up calls or read messages sent by her,” Parshuram, inspector mahanklai police noted.
In fact, it was only then that a zero FIR filed by Vidhan Sabha police of Raipur in Chhattisgarh; case was later transferred on 28th July to Mahankali police station.
This suit is now re-registered under Sections 69 BNS (sexual intercourse through deception), Section 64 (2)(M) BNS perpetrated rape repeatedly with the same victim). Investigations are ongoing.
