A senior official says that a man from Karnataka has been arrested by the police two days after a 20-year-old woman’s body was found near Uran railway station in Navi Mumbai.
A Deputy Commissioner of Police confirmed that Dawood Sheikh, also known as Bhaskar, was apprehended from Shahapur area of Gulbarga in Karnataka.
On July 27 at around 2 a.m., the woman’s corpse was discovered; she might have been killed on July 26th afternoon. A victim, who worked in Belapur, had taken half day off on the previous day.
So far an unidentified person has been charged with committing an offence under section 103 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and three teams were constituted to track down the suspect. Earlier, Crime Branch handled this case independently according to what the police said.
