On 19 July 2024, a 48-year-old man, Shankar Ganesh died after the wall of his house made up of mud rained off in Kangeyampalayam at Sulur town in Coimbatore district.
On the morning of July 19, 2024, just before daybreak, a forty eight year old individual was killed by a collapsed mud wall at his residence caused by drenching rain near Sulur in Coimbatore District.
The name of the dead person is Shankar Ganesh. He lived on Madurai Veeran Kovil Street at Kangeyampalayam near Sulur.
In this regard it had come to light that Ganesh was employed as cleaner in one of those private hospitals situated around Neelambur locality while his wife S. Jothimani aged 42 years did similarly for a private college located at Sulur.
Ganesh had been staying under the roof with walls made of earth and constructed by his father for thirty years now. The rain-soaked bedroom wall fell down around half past two o’clock early Friday morning trapping Ganesh inside its debris.
His wife screamed to neighbours who began clearing away the wreckage. When they extricated him from under it they found him unconscious but alive.
In response to calls from neighbors, an ambulance service arrived at the scene promptly. On reaching there, personnel confirmed that he was dead. Subsequently, the body was taken by policemen from Sulur police station to Government Medical College and ESI Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case under unnatural death and are investigating further.
