On Thursday, Nadakkavu police arrested a 45-year-old man from Kozhikode who is said to have attempted to molest a woman in public at night.
The alleged occurrence happened around 10.30 p.m. on May 19 near Mofussil Bus Stand Junction. She was waiting for him on her scooter because he was expected by bus from Thrissur when the accused person, K.P. Mohammedali of Puthiyakadavu approached her and asked her to share his motorcycle with him.
When she tried to know why, he allegedly made an assault at her and started using abusive language towards her. While trying to hold onto his motorbike, the criminal escaped after pulling her along the road for about ten meters. After her husband’s arrival, the injured lady was taken to hospital.
On May 20th, she lodged a complaint with Nadakkavu police station. She did not remember its number but only knew that it was yellow in color. Security cameras installed on nearby buildings confirmed what she had claimed. That very bike which had been picked up from Karaparamba was being used by one of his employees according to its owner–a meat seller; he then pointed out that this particular one belonged to Mohammedali who stayed in Kakkodi three days after registering it as a case.
He is now kept in judicial custody awaiting his court trial as the remanded person whose name is Mohammedali.
