Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, on Saturday (28th September 2024), said the elections for the Maharashtra legislature of the state have to take place latest before November 26, 2024.
CEC Rajiv Kumar stated that the present Assembly is due to close on 26 November, 2024.
Election Commission of India or ECI was assessing the election management measures in Maharashtra.
While revealing the election schedule for Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana on August 17, Mr. Kumar had stated that Maharashtra could be notified for election at a later date.
“Last time, there were assembly elections in the states of Mah Shresth and Haryana simultaneously. At that time J&K was not a factor but this time there are four elections this year and fiveth election immediately after this. Depending on the need of forces we have to conduct two elections one after other,” he said.
