Maa Kaali teaser: Raima Sen starrer unveils the horrors of Bengal’s past, marking 78 years of Direct Action Day
Maa Kaali will be released this year commemorating the 78th anniversary of this unfortunate incident where many lives were lost through merciless acts of genocide as it uncovers the art of dividing people into communities by means of riots and politics leading to one of greatest human tragedy in twentieth century with continued implications.
The teaser aims at revealing how partition demand for India arose by following a Hindu family recounting experience with respect to horrific nature of this tragedy that was committed against them. The Makers have Boldly written ‘Unplug the earphones. Let the Truth be Heard, LOUD and CLEAR’ as soon as the teaser begins to play.
The promotional video portrays incidents that occurred during communal tension pervading through our nation and specifically Bengal through an engaging narrative, impactful dialogues and heart wrenching visuals. It is simply mind-boggling how much they have left behind too.
“Since I am Bengali myself I deeply connected with this story because it reminds me so much about what my own family went through,” said Raima Sen. “But despite being Bengali I knew nothing about it until now when this movie came into my hands so I felt it was a moral obligation for me to tell what happened during that day.”
IAS turned actor Abhishek Singh opined, “Maa Kaali is about one of the most important events in our history, yet, till date, the details of that monstrous tragedy are unknown. The film aims to make people aware of the genocide which shook the nation.”
Maa Kaali is written and directed by Vijay Yelakanti, produced by TG Vishwa Prasad, co-produced by Vivek Kuchibhotla and presented by Karthikeya 2 People Media Factory Makers. This pan-Indian movie has been shot in Hindi and will also release in Bengali and Telugu at 2024’s theatres.
