Mr. Rawat, a six-time MLA from Vijaypur in Sheopur district, quit the Congress and joined the ruling BJP during the Lok Sabha poll campaign.

Ramniwas Rawat, a leader of BJP, was included in Madhya Pradesh cabinet on July 8 where he will be serving as another minister under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

In his Raj Bhawan office right here, Mr. Rawat took oath in front of CM Yadav with Governor Mangubhai Patel doing the honours.

Mr. Rawat is a well-known politician from Vijaypur in Sheopur district as well as an elected representative for six times to the state legislative assembly of Madhya Pradesh; therefore, being able to switch parties while running for MP’s seat this year.

Though he has quit the Congress and moved to BJP, Mr. Rawat has not vacated his seat in the State Assembly yet.

During his time with the ruling party since April 30 when he made public about his move away from opposition camp during one of its campaign rallies, Mr. Rawat would neither confirm nor deny switching sides.

28 MLAs were sworn into office by CM Yadav on December 25 following Assembly elections which saw him sworn into power on December 13th of that very year.

This brings up the number of appointees to twenty-nine among others is Ramniwas Rawat who will join as a member of His Excellency Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s council immediately after taking an oath today at Raj Bhawan

The total number of ministers in M.P.’s cabinet cannot exceed thirty-four; meaning it may include four more people apart from those twenty nine mentioned above.
