An Election Commission of India press conference is scheduled for June 3, one day ahead of the counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 EC. This would be a first for the election committee in India’s electoral history to hold a presser at the conclusion of an election.

On June 1st, after seven phases that began on April 19th were completed.
“Press conference by Election Commission of India on General Elections 2024,” according to a media invite by the EC.
Before parliamentary polls last year, deputy election commissioners used to brief media periodically following each phase, but this was abolished.
EC orders repolling in two Bengal seats
The Election Commission has called for re-polling at one booth each in the Barasat and Mathurapur Lok Sabha constituencies ahead of vote-counting in Lok Sabha elections, an official said today.
According to him, this decision followed reports by returning officers (ROs), DEO and observers concerned who did not find them suitable for allowing their results to go unchallenged.
He added that Kadambagachi Saradar Para FP School located within Deganga Assembly segment is where Barasat constituency’s booth is while Aaddir Mahal Srichaitanya Bidyapith within Kakdwip Assembly seat is where Mathurapur constituency’s booth lies.
