Rishi Sunak, amongst other things, had some advice for the newly-elected British PM Keir Starmer in his first official speech as UK’s opposition leader in Parliament on Wednesday.
“Let me give you a few words of wisdom very quickly. .” he said.
“Over here, on this side of the House, life moves pretty fast. It is not long before you are lucky enough to be tapped on the shoulder and made into a junior Ministerial You can look forward to attending Cabinet meetings later. Actually you would end up inside cabinet,” he explained.
Sunak’s own experience was one that saw him rise from being an under-secretary at the Treasury to chancellor under Boris Johnson.
“And when it becomes impossible for someone to continue as Prime Minister, one might find themselves called upon to take over,” Sunak concluded amidst laughter from those present.
“You know what happens next thing you realize that there’s a great future behind U and question if 44 is old enough 4 an elder statesman,” he said jokingly.

After Charles III made his King’s speech during the State Opening of Parliament outlining the new Labour Party government’s legislative agenda for the coming year, Sunak spoke.
